Coleus Packaging (Pty) Ltd was, until 2006, a solely owned subsidiary of the South African Breweries (Pty) Ltd (SAB), which in turn is the South African arm of SABMiller plc.
Coleus was set up in 2002 and acquired the business of the Rheem Crown Division from Highveld Steel and Vanadium Corporation Ltd, becoming operational in 2003.
Nokusa Consortium (led by Nokusa Investments (Pty) Ltd), highly skilled
professionals with a diverse range of skills and expertise in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), packaging and manufacturing industries, acquired a 40% stake in Coleus Packaging (Pty) Ltd from SAB in a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) transaction in 2006
Coleus Packaging (Pty) Ltd is the largest and most dominant crown supplier of metal bottle closures (crowns) for the brewing and bottling industries in Southern Africa, producing over 6 billion crowns a year and supplying to over 10 countries. In October 2016 ABInBev acquired SABMiller Ltd.
